Well, I don't know about DC's evolution but his playing on the latest Niacin "Organik" is godly !
His sound is perfect on this record.
What's not to love about Dennis ??? I wonder ...

Absolutely amazing how anyone could not like Dennis Chambers.It's cool to be able to read but how are you able to discount such a talent!?And I seriously doubt he's just getting by.What have you accomplished at the level of D.C.
2.Although I didn't specifically mention it, I very much enjoyed Dennis' earlier recordings. The talent is there (in HUGE amounts), nobody including me wants to belittle that.
3.What have I accomplished at the level of Dennis? Probably nothing. Drumming has always been a hobby of mine. Does that automatically mean I have no right to voice my opinion? I believe that I have expressed my criticisms in a polite manner and quite francly, denying something like the fact that Dennis' evolution as a drummer has been somewhat stagnant lately, is ignorant. However, that could mean nothing to others. It's simply something that I value highly in a drummer. I really don't have a problem if you disagree, as I mentioned earlier. This discussion really leads nowhere. Bottom line is (in accordance with the original topic):
Dennis Chambers is a fantastic drummer loved by many and has been able to develop a memory that is superior to most.
End of discussion for me.

True, nobody's perfect and I think everyone here agrees that Dennis is one helluva drummer.

Some even require the deciphering of terrible notes made by a non-drummer director (but that's another thread...)
What's sometimes even MORE interesting is when this same type of folk try to verbally explain to you a drum part of theirs...
Admittedly, I'm not that huge of a Dennis Chambers fan.
Is he amazing? ABSOLUTELY!
Is he a huge influence where I've got tons of his records in my collection? No, but I've got enough where I'm aware of his bag of stuff.
Interestingly enough, a buddy of mine just brought over a bag of Dvd's for me to sift through for kicks and inspiration. One of those DVDs is D.C.'s "In the pocket". I'm watching it now, never having spent the time to watch it in the past.
He's seriously laying it down on here. And all those crazy kicks and twists in the music? Man, I wish I had a memory like that. And I wish I was that funky. And I wish my hands were that fast. And I wish I could displace the groove like that. And I wish my foot was that fast. And well, I'm just a white kid from corn country. I'll never have all that!
I'm seriously digging this funk! Those of you who have it, watch it again. Those of you who don't have it, go get it. IMO he's not being so much Dennis the artist on this DVD as fitting right the hell in with the band.

"The Don" has spoken.

Yeah, man, that's DC w Sco's band ATT; Sco, Grainger, & Jim Beard. The "partner" vid to that one is Serious Moves, which is also, well, serious...seriously groovin,' that is.
In the Pocket is my fave of those 2 AW. There's some ruthless groovin'-fonkay-rockin'-fuzoid drumming on that vid.
Other Serious Chambers:
Sco's Blue Matter, Loud Jazz, & Pick Hits Live Tokyo;
The 2 McLaughlin's Heart of Things discs;
McLaughlin & Joey DeFrancesco's Free Spirits;
the CAB stuff;
Uncle Mo's Space Ranch; &
the Tom Coster & Bob Berg stuff.
If I could claim that I was the drummer or that it was my drumming on any of those albums, esp the Sco ones, I'd die quite satisfied right now.
[Or at least pass out for a while pretty happily]...
"Word all dead [the heck] up." ;-p
PS - Over my shoulder on the tube & stereo, Vinnie just wrapped up laying down the backbeat w Faith Hill & Tim McGraw on the CMA's...it looked like he was reading it down...
